"Is eating people always wrong?"
This is a really good wide-ranging book about this subject. Not so long ago there was a lot of it about! Sometimes because human beings were the most plentiful supply of meat (in the South Seas) and at other times and in other places for religious reasons. Many pagan religions practised human sacrifice and cannibalism as they were animists (they believe that every living being has a spirit and that if you kill it, eat it and drink its blood you gain the power and strength (or wisdom etc.) of that being). It was very widespread, if not global.
However, wherever the Christian gospel went it stopped (as did tattooing).
If you have a slightly weird sense of curiosity I recommend Garry Hogg's book.
