The Secret of Crete

This is a photo of my copy of 'The Secret of Crete' , the edition printed and published in Greece in 1983. The original book was first published in German in in America in 1973.

It appealed to me for numerous reasons: I've been to Crete twice and loved it; the Minoans are fascinating, as is the Palace of Knossos; it's ancient history and contains his solutions to many paradoxes.

The blurb on the back sums it up by saying that Wunderlich believed that the Minoan civilisation turned away from the monumental form of the cult of the dead - as in Egypt - to remembrance through drama and the cult of the hero.

I really like the feel and look of this book. There are lots of line drawings, which I like. If you're a book lover I think you'll understand when I say I just like holding the book, flicking through the pages and breathing in something of the book. As I have written this review I realise I really like this book!
