Wonderfully Made

Really, this is (nearly) where I came into all this. I was reading John Kleinig's Commentary on Leviticus and watching him on Youtube presenting a lengthy series of talks on the book to Lutheran pastors.

John is a retired lecturer at Australian Lutheran College and an ordained minister in the Lutheran Church. He has written various books and a commentary of Hebrews (which I recommend - I recommend all of his books!).

There was something he said in one of his lectures, pretty much in passing, about the growing popularity of tattoos that got me thinking and so I started researching tattoos. That led onto many other things!

The book is about why our physical bodies really do matter. We are not spirits who just happen to slosh around in a physical vessel (my words not Kleinig's). No, our bodies are very important. In this day and age we need to be reminded that Jesus came in the flesh (as a human baby and grew up experiencing those things we all experience, living in a physical body).

The book deals with 'shame, chastity, desire, and gender dysphoria by integrating them into the biblical vision of creation'.

A recommended read.
